The Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday is an official day of service, celebrating the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. Join us this MLK Day as we come together to build a Beloved Community. Let's honor Dr. King's legacy through service and volunteerism and demonstrate how joining together in service can transform your life and the lives of others.
Observed each year on the third Monday in January, Martin Luther King, Jr., Day is a federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King and improve their communities. AmeriCorps has been charged with leading this effort for 30 years.
Engage with your community and create constructive action. Take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream. Recommit by volunteering to serve others. You can clean up a public space, mentor a young person, or help address hunger.
