The European Innovation Council (EIC) is a funding program that supports groundbreaking research and innovation in various fields. In 2025, the EIC has launched several Pathfinder Challenges that focus on biotech, medical diagnosis, construction, and waste management. These challenges aim to develop innovative technological solutions to address pressing global issues.
The Biotech for Climate Resilient Crops and Plant-Based Biomanufacturing Challenge aims to enhance adaptation pathways for the production of climate-resilient crops. The goal is to develop alternative pathways to produce high-value ingredients in plants, increasing their nutrient profile. This challenge seeks to deliver energy-efficient, low-emission foods that maintain or increase biodiversity and are integral to a healthy diet.
