The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is committed to providing its staff and students with the best possible tools to enhance collaboration and productivity. As part of this commitment, UCSF IT is rolling out two new digital tools in late April: Grammarly and NameCoach. This article explores these tools, their features, and how they will benefit the UCSF community.
Grammarly is a writing assistance tool designed to help users improve their spelling, grammar, and punctuation. In addition to these core features, Grammarly also offers:
Grammarly can be seamlessly integrated with email, desktop applications, and Google Chrome, making it a versatile tool for various writing tasks.
Starting April 23rd, learners and 100% FTEs (excluding those on the IT Field Services exemption list) will receive an automated email with an enrollment link. If you believe you should have received an enrollment link but haven't by May 2nd, you can request one by opening a ticket with the Collaboration Services team.
NameCoach is an audio tool designed to help users pronounce names correctly. This tool promotes inclusivity and respect within the UCSF community by ensuring everyone's name is pronounced as they prefer. On April 30th, NameCoach will automatically populate in the apps section of the Outlook toolbar for all users with active UCSF email accounts, accessible in both the web and desktop client.
To help users get acquainted with these new tools, the IT Collaboration Services team will host office hours. These sessions will provide opportunities to ask questions and learn how to effectively use Grammarly and NameCoach.
