At Character.AI, we've been working tirelessly to bring personalized superintelligence to users around the world since our founding in 2022. Over the past two years, we've made significant strides towards this goal, building progressively smarter models and launching immersive new features to interact with our Characters.
When we first started Character.AI, our goal of personalized superintelligence required a full-stack approach. We had to pre-train models, post-train them to power our unique experiences, and build a product platform capable of reaching users globally. However, the landscape has shifted since then. Many more pre-trained models are now available, giving us the opportunity to focus on post-training and creating innovative new product experiences.
We're excited to announce that we've entered into an agreement with Google that will allow us to accelerate our progress. As part of this agreement, Character.AI will provide Google with a non-exclusive license for our current LLM technology. This agreement will provide increased funding for Character.AI to continue growing and focusing on building personalized AI products for users around the world.
As part of this agreement, Noam and Daniel, as well as certain members of our research team, will be joining Google. Most of our talented team will remain and will continue to build the Character.AI product and serve our growing base of users. Dominic Perella, our General Counsel, has stepped into the role of interim CEO, bringing his experience from Snap Inc. to our leadership team.
As we enter this next phase of growth, we're committed to investing in our post-training capabilities, with the flexibility to use our own or externally available LLMs. We're excited for the future of Character.AI and look forward to building innovative new products that serve our users.
