The City of La Porte, Texas, has established a Residential Generator Grant Program to support homeowners in acquiring and installing home generators, promoting the health, safety, and welfare of its residents. This initiative aims to provide a reliable source of power during emergencies and outages, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Program Overview

The program allows property owners to receive reimbursement for the cost of purchasing and installing a natural gas whole-house generator with an automatic transfer switch or a generator tap box. The City of La Porte will cover up to 50% of the costs, with a maximum contribution of $5,000 for a generator and $500 for a tap box.

Eligibility and Qualifications

To qualify for the program, applicants must:

• Be a property owner in La Porte, TX
• Not use the property as a short-term rental
• Not be indebted to the City and be current on all property tax payments
• Not use the property as a place of business, except for a home office
• Provide proof of medical necessity, disability, or age (65 or older) for priority review

Application Process

Applicants can submit their applications at La Porte City Hall or via email to Generator@LaPorteTX.gov. The application must include:
